Victim in Cookeville church shooting dies

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -

A woman injured in a church shooting last week in Putnam County has died.

Etta Medley, 61, was shot at the Double Springs Community Church in Cookeville on February 2.

She passed away from her injuries Sunday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
 
Medley was shot by her brother-in-law, Tommy Meadows, before he took his own life.

According to police, Tommy Meadows, 64, went to the church looking for his estranged wife, Wanda Meadows.

A struggle ensured during which Meadows shot Medley.

Meadows' wife was also in the church but managed to escape.
