KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police have identified the woman killed in a car crash on Clinton Highway early Saturday morning.

Officials say a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Kathy Smith, 56, of Caryville, was traveling east on Schaad Road around 3:50 a.m. while a 2005 Nissan Titan truck driven by Kody Wisener, 52, of Jefferson City, was going south on Clinton Highway.

Police say Smith ran a red light, went through the intersection, and was hit by the Nissan.

Both vehicles spun and the Toyota overturned, coming to rest on the passenger site.

Smith was partially ejected and was later pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials say she was not wearing a seat belt and if she had, it may have saved her life.

Wisener was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
