HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A Church Hill man is under investigation by the FBI after what appeared to be pipe bombs were found recently in his home.

Brian Keith Looney, Church Hill, was scheduled to appear in court Jan. 16 but did not show, according to court documents.

Deputies went to his home this past Wednesday and while there found potential explosives, according to Marshall Stone, FBI special agent.

“The reason we were called out was they found something that appeared to be pipe bombs,” Stone said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also was called out to Looney’s home to investigate.

He has not yet been charged with any federal offenses, Stone said, adding that the investigation is continuing.

Looney was being held on a failure to appear charge in the Hawkins County Jail.
