KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tuesday is mainly cloudy with highs around 40. Tonight is mostly dry and cold with a low of 27.

On Wednesday, the forecast gets interesting. Please make sure to keep checking the very latest as a slight change in the track of the low will make a huge difference in our local forecast. As always, we will bring you the very latest.

Right now, it looks like rain will move in around mid-day on Wednesday. Temperatures fall during the afternoon, and the rain will change into snow. Snow keeps going Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

As far as numbers, this is a system where the further east you live, the better chance you have for snow. The Knoxville area is looking at 1-4", depending on the track of the low. The mountains can expect 6-9". The plateau is looking at a trace up to 2", but again, a lot depends on the track of this low.

On Wednesday, the plateau will go under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 6am CST. The valley and mountains go under a Winter Storm Watch beginning at 10am EST. We'll continue to watch this system and keep you updated.

TODAY: Cloudy. High: 40

TONIGHT: Cloudy. Low: 27

WEDNESDAY: Rain to Snow Likely. 80%. High: 36
