BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports winter weather conditions continue to impact roadways in southwestern Virginia.

With snow continuing to fall, motorists should anticipate snow-covered, slick and hazardous driving conditions throughout the region. Conditions have improved on Interstate 81 in Washington and Smyth counties, with snow and ice patches being reported.

Be alert to snow-covered conditions on Interstates 81 and 77 in Wythe, Bland and Carroll counties.

Be alert to drifting snow and treacherous conditions on the majority of routes in Washington, Grayson, Wythe and Bland counties.

VDOT crews and contractors are responding to the storm with about 750 pieces of equipment deployed across the twelve counties of the Bristol District. VDOT’s goal is to make all roads passable within 48 hours after the storm ends.
