KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Lakeshore Park in West Knoxville was packed with kids of all ages sledding Thursday morning.

Regina Godshall and her two children were making the most of the day off from school.

"I love sledding. It's amazing. It's awesome going down the hill and going fast!" said Forrest, 12.

One sled stood out among the rest.

"We're testing it out. My husband made it out of PVC pipe and this interesting chair he chopped the legs off of, and then he welded it all together with this plank," said Ellisa Benjamin.

Justin Jenkins usually snowboards at Ober Gatlinburg or in North Carolina.

"But on a day like this you just stay at home and ride hometown mountains," he said.

He even improvised his own ramp, packing snow on top of a boulder.
