KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Despite a winter storm, businesses like florists and chocolate shops are busy preparing for one of the busiest holidays of the year.

At The Flower Pot on Gay Street the store is filled with bouquets ready to be delivered, and despite the weather, business was booming.

"The phones are ringing off the hooks and deliveries are going out," said owner Gina McMurray.

On their busiest days of the year, they didn't let the nearly half a foot of snow stop them.

"We got here very early this morning, worked very late last night and plan to work into the evening as well," said McMurrary.

Over at Bradley's Chocolate Factory near World's Fair Park the weather did pose a few challenges.

"It was a little difficult for our strawberry dippers to get in this morning," said Gillian Hunt, head candy maker.

They dip hundreds of strawberries in both milk and white chocolate and by the look of the line, they're a hot item.

And with this year's holiday falling on a Friday, restaurants are ready for a busy night.

"We booked up pretty quickly, we opened up reservations in January and about three days later the spots were full," said the general manager of Knox Mason, Nathan Osborne.

But if you haven't made plans or bought your gift, you're not alone.

We spotted Mark Young at The Flower Pot ordering a last minute Valentine's Day gift.

"This is a trend, why stop now?" Young said about buying things last minute.

Last minute shoppers help bring big business to those in the business of love. According to the National Retail Federation the average person is expected to spend around $133 this year on Valentine's Day.
