Second victim in Sevier County crash dies


SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A woman rushed to the hospital after the car she was riding in early Saturday morning struck a utility pole, has died.

It happened just before 3 a.m. in Sevier County, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol.

THP officials say Tabatha Rogers was driving a Pontiac GRA along Old Newport Highway when the car ran off the roadway and struck the pole.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 27-year-old Tara Yates was taken to UT Medical Center.

THP announced a few hours later that Yates had died from her injuries.
