KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police are currently searching for the suspect involved in a West Knoxville stabbing.

The Knoxville Police Department says officers responded to the stabbing around 12:35 a.m. Sunday at the parking lot outside of Doc's All American Grille & Sports Bar, which is located on the 7300 block of Kingston Pike.

KPD says the female victim was inside a restroom in the business.

The woman told police a white male approached her inside the club and told her he was homeless and freezing. The suspect allegedly asked her to take him to a location just off Kingston Pike. He told her he would pay her $20 for the transportation.

The victim says once the two got inside her car, the suspect took out a knife, held it to her throat and demanded money.

When the suspect found out the victim did not have any money, police say he stabbed her, jumped out of the car and ran eastbound on Kingston Pike.

The victim was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She is expected to be okay.

The suspect is described as a white man about 35 years old, standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He has collar length, curly dirty blonde hair and was last seen wearing an Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information should call KPD at (865) 215-7212.
