ROGERSVILLE (WATE) - A Hawkins County man is facing charges after deputies say he shot his ex-girlfriend during a break-in.

The Hawkins County Sheriff's Department says Rodney Bailey, 31, forced his way inside a home on Manis Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials say Sara Davis, 32, and Ronnie William, 30, were in a back bedroom when they heard someone enter the back door. As William approached the bedroom door, deputies say Bailey kicked the door open and hit William in the head with a pistol. He then fired a shot, hitting Davis in the stomach.

During the ensuing altercation, William was able to get the gun away from Bailey. Bailey then exited the home where he was taken into custody.

Deputies say Bailey is an ex-boyfriend of Davis.

Davis' two children, ages 9 and 7, were also inside the home during the incident. Deputies also discovered a tire had been cut on William's vehicle, which was parked in the driveway.

Davis was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. Her condition has not been released.

Bailey was taken to the Hawkins County Jail. He faces two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of felony reckless endangerment, one count of especially aggravated burglary, one count of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of vandalism.

He is currently being held on $750,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Hawkins County General Sessions Court on February 19.
