KNOXVILLE (WATE) - We have received a number of emails and phone calls to the Streetwise hotline recently, all pertaining to potholes.
A lot of the calls have focused on the interstates, including I-640. We've had a number of complaints about potholes and rough areas near Western Avenue, as well as near the I-640/I-75/I-275 interchange.
A section of I-640 from the I-40/I-640 interchange on the east end to Broadway was resurfaced last year.
A lot of that work was conducted during the overnight hours.
Since then, we have been receiving a number of pothole concerns, so we decided to find out when the rest of I-640 will be resurfaced.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the western side of I-640 is scheduled to be resurfaced this year from around Broadway to the I-640 interchange out west.
The project has already been let for bid at a cost of $4.9 million. We still do not know the exact start date, but except it will be this spring. We do know the project has to be completed by August 15.
