Tennessee relaunches website telling taxpayers how their money is spent

NASHVILLE (WATE) - The State of Tennessee relaunched its transparency website Thursday in an effort to offer more user friendly information to taxpayers.

The site, called "Transparent Tennessee," provides a one-stop shop for searching public data on how state dollars are spent. This includes a searchable checkbook with interactive data related to state agency expenses, vendor payments and travel reimbursements.

"A state government that isaccountable to Tennessee taxpayers is an important part of beingcustomer-focused, efficient and effective," Gov. Bill Haslam said in a media release. "The advancedfunction of this website will allow citizens more access to information abouthow state dollars are spent." 

Thesite also has a public opportunities section that links to public meetings, openrecords information and a page for feedback. There are also prominent links to state audits and the state salary database.
