SEYMOUR (WATE) - Thursday night members of the Seymour community met to talk about efforts to incorporate.

The group gathered at Seymour High School. While the focus of the meeting was providing information, it did get heated at times.

People on both sides of the issue weighed in.

"The impact would be felt for the local services that it brings, the community centers, the different things, the garbage pickup. There's just a lot of little things that Seymour doesn't have that every other city in Tennessee has," said Patrick Doyle, the main proponent for incorporation.

Still, some like Kevin Abrams say they don't see the point.

"Well, I don't know why we would need another level of government in this area. We have a well functioning county government, and if the people of Seymour need something done, they can go before the county council when they meet every month and make their requests known."

As it stands now, part of Seymour is in Blount County and the other part is in Sevier County.
