KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Demonstrators filled Market Square Saturday afternoon, supporting protesters in Venezuela.

Protests like Saturday's have been organized in cities all across the U.S.

People have been on the streets of Caracas for nearly two weeks, protesting the president and his government. They say he either needs to resolve problems like rising crime and high inflation, or step aside.

The organizer of Knoxville's demonstration, Sandra Robledo, recently moved to East Tennessee from Venezuela.

"The goal is to show the world that Knoxville is here. The Columbians, anywhere you're from we're here to support. We just want to know the whole word what's going on," Robledo said.

Dozens of activists have been arrested in Venezuela during protests.
