Two more Henley Bridge lanes to reopen Monday afternoon

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two more lanes of traffic will open Monday afternoon on the Henley Bridge.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says two lanes will be open in each direction on the bridge for the first time since the reconstruction project began in January 2011. The bridge reopened to one lane of traffic in each direction last October.

On Tuesday, crews will remove striping and repaint lines to modify the intersection at Moody Avenue and Chapman Highway. When that is complete, detour signage in the project area will be removed.

TDOT advises that while the bridge will be open to two lanes of traffic in each direction, workers will still be present at times, as work continues on the bridge.

The due date for total project completion is June 3, 2014.
