SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - The Sevier County mother who attempted to set her child on fire several years ago has been sentenced to eight years in prison, according to District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn.

Investigators say Becky Eury strapped her five-week-old baby into a car seat on Mothers Day weekend of 2010, then tried to set the seat on fire.

Officials say the child was unharmed.

She was found guilty in July 2013 of attempted aggravated child abuse and neglect or endangerment, among other charges.

Eury was sentenced on Tuesday, she was returned to the Sevier County Jail afterwards.
