NASHVILLE (WATE) - Parents of the young Knoxville couple killed in a shocking murder case will travel to Nashville once again on Wednesday, urging lawmakers for change in the justice system.

Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were tortured, raped and killed in January 2007.

The victims' mothers gave emotional testimony two weeks ago, with the Tennessee Senate judiciary committee passing two bills afterwards,

One of those bills would create the presumption that a judge approves a verdict following a unanimous verdict. The other has to do with character evidence.

The families will appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, before meeting with Governor Bill Haslam later in the day.
