KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Firefighters worked to extinguish an early morning house fire on Wednesday in Knoxville.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at a farmhouse located on Rutledge Pike at Ellistown Road.

Rural/Metro officials say they received numerous calls about the blaze, and that they when they arrived on scene heavy flames and smoke were coming from the home.

Firefighters at the scene told 6 News no one was inside at the time of the blaze.

Crews knocked out the fire by 6 a.m.

No injuries have been reported at this time.  The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
