ROCKWOOD (WATE) - A mobile home caught fire Wednesday morning while drug officers were attempting to serve a warrant. Officials say the home was "booby trapped."

Officers with the 9th Drug Task Force, Roane County Sheriff's Office, Harriman Police Department, Kingston Police Department and Rockwood Police Department were serving warrants as part of a countywide drug roundup.

Task force officers say they were at a mobile home in a small park off Green Meadows Road to serve a warrant. The trailer erupted in flames as soon as the door was opened.

"What I'm understanding from our agents is it was booby trapped in a fashion where there was a rope attached to the door knob. When you opened, the door it turned over some candles that were burning on some kind of accelerant," said District Attorney General Russell Johnson.

Officers believed a second trailer may have been booby trapped as well.

"They did indicate there's another one with a door with a rope on it when they went to go in that they quickly backed away," said Johnson.

The Knox County Bomb Squad arrived on the scene shortly after to check other homes, but they were all cleared.

No one was injured.

One suspect, David Neal, 33, was arrested on meth charges, but police are still searching for a female suspect.
