MARYVILLE (WATE) - Three Blount County students are facing charges after deputies say they spread false rumors at school.

According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, there were bogus rumors circulating around William Blount High School on Friday morning that someone had brought a gun to the school, and that the facility was on lock down.

Officials say that never happened, and that no weapon was found in the school.

A school resource officer later traced the rumors back to three students.

Deputies charged 18-year-old Kristopher Fann, along with two minors, of filing a false report.
