KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was taken to the emergency room after being stabbed several times early Sunday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Police say it happened just before 3:30 a.m. at a home on Agnes Road. Officers found the victim, identified as Justin Hayes, 31, sitting on the front porch of his neighbor's house with several stab wounds.

Police say a man and a woman were inside Hayes' home arguing. Hayes walked into their room and asked them to stop arguing before he could sleep.

The man then attacked Hayes.

After regaining consciousness, Hayes found himself bleeding from multiple cuts. He then went to a neighbor's house to get help.

Police say the suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived.

Hayes was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators are working on several leads on the identify and location of the suspect.
