POWELL (WATE) - Two people were killed a single-vehicle crash in Knox County early Tuesday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a Jeep SUV driven by Melanie Norman, 44, was traveling southbound on Norris Freeway near Pedigo Road at 2 a.m. when she failed to negotiate a left hand turn.

The vehicle struck a utility pole and then an embankment, causing it to roll ejecting both Norman and her passenger, Randolph Bedford, 55.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

Neither were wearing a seat belt.
