Knox Co. student speaks about school bus wreck

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - 6 News has learned the man arrested in connection with yesterday's school bus crash has faced DUI charges before.

44-year-old Keith Greene was arrested for DUI yesterday after running into the back of an SUV and then head on into a school bus along Middlebrook Pike near Cedar Bluff Road.

Greene actually has two other DUI charges, occuring in 1990 and 1991.

Since those charges are from more than 20 years ago, they are not allowed to be observed in criminal court.

Earlier today we caught up with Stephanie Mason-Potts, one of the students who was on the bus when the crash happened.

"And once it hit us, the bus started smelling really bad and everyone was like what's going on and we got to get off this bus, and then someone said, 'you can't get off,' and I was like I'm getting off of this bus," Mason-Potts said.

In addition to DUI, Greene is facing charges of driving on a revoked license and reckless driving.

If convicted, he could face three years and seven months in jail.
