MARYVILLE (WATE) - Business leaders in Blount County are making a pitch to another well-known craft brewing company from California.

Three years ago it seemed the county was on the verge of luring Sierra Nevada Brewing, but the company picked Asheville, N.C. instead.

Now the county is launching a campaign centered around social media to draw the attention of Stone Brewing Company.

They even wrote and produced two songs designed to tell the company why it should pick Blount County, and those songs already have hundreds of downloads.

The edgy rock and roll songs are a unique way to try to bring in new business to Blount County, but those behind the music say it is exactly the approach they need to get Stone Brewing Company's attention.

"They're great songs. They're a great approach to talking their language and getting out in front of them and sharing with them the story of why they need to come to east Tennessee," said Tim Wirtz with Mary Beth West Communications.

They launched a social media campaign behind the two songs called "People of Stone" and "A Stone in East Tennessee" grabbing interest on Facebook and Twitter after the craft brewer put out a request for proposals looking for a new location.

"They're going to get thousands of responses and we don't want to end up on the cutting room floor. We want to be in the hands of the people who are ultimately going to make the decision," said Wirtz.

"I think the craft beer culture is something that's really growing in this area, and we've got great water and great atmosphere to have this type of business here. I think the timing is right to bring this type of business to this area," said Jeff Muir with Blount County Partnership.

The plan is to get the brewery to build at Pellissippi Place business park, and it is just the kind of business county officials say belongs there.

"I think there's an appetite for it, and I think people are responding to it and I think it's going to be a good thing for this area," said Muir.

That social media campaign might just be working.

Stone Brewing Company has followed the Blount County Partnership's Twitter account created for the effort: @stonein_etn

The brewing company is accepting proposals from different locations through March 15.
