Woman rushed to hospital after house fire

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One elderly woman is recovering Thursday night at UT Medical Center after suffering cardiac arrest and smoke inhalation in the wake of a fire at her home.

Around 6 p.m., KFD was dispatched to 5500 Foxwoods Rd. on a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews found flames shooting through the roof of the house.

The woman was pulled from her home by a parametic and required CPR from the first arriving crews on scene.

The victim's son told fire officials that he had been using the kitchen stove to heat the home, and officials concluded that was where the fire originated.

No other injuries were reported.
