MOUNTAIN CITY (WATE) - An escaped inmate with ties to Sevier and Blount counties was captured early Friday morning.

The Tennessee Department of Correction says 24-year-old Joshua Michael Baber walked away from a minimum-custody work detail at the Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City on Thursday afternoon.

TDOC Agents, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Johnson County Sheriff's Department worked together to capture Baber.

Officials say Baber had seven years remaining on his sentence.  He faces charges in Blount and Sevier counties for burglary, kidnapping and theft of property.

Baber was transported back to prison.  TDOC says he could face up to five additional years for the escape.
