Man convicted in East Knoxville grandmother's death sentenced to 6 years

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The man convicted of killing a Knoxville grandmother in 2008 was sentenced Friday to six years in prison.

Frank Cooper was convictedin January for his role in the 2008 shooting death of Nola Atkins. The 72-year-old was found deadinside her home on Selma Avenue.

Cooper was arrested in 2010 and charged with first degreemurder and aggravated burglary.

He was acquitted on the first degree murder charge.

On Friday, Cooper was sentenced to two years for criminally negligent homicide and four years for facilitation of burglary.
