KINGSTON (WATE) - A Knoxville man was arrested after a two county police pursuit that ended with a crash in Roane County.

Deputies with the Roane County Sheriff's Department say the pursuit began in Loudon County.

They say suspect John Watson Helvey, 42, of Knoxville, was driving on the shoulder of Interstate 40 westbound at a high rate of speed. He tried to get off at the Kingston exit and lost control of his car, crashing into the woods.

Helvey appeared to be uninjured.

He was taken to the Roane County jail on charges of DUI and evading arrest.
