KINGSPORT (WJHL) - A Knoxville man was arrested in Kingsport Thursday after he reportedly shoplifted 59 pairs of panties and 22 pairs of yoga pants from Victoria's Secret.

According to a Kingsport Police Department report, Bryan K. Harwell, 43, was charged after officers responded to Fort Henry Mall, 2101 Fort Henry Drive, in reference to a shoplifting incident.

When officers arrived, Harwell was handcuffed in the mall security office and the security officer said that Harwell reportedly concealed clothing from Victoria's Secret in a bag and then left the store.

The store manager, who reported the shoplifting incident, said the alarm did not sound when he left the store.

According to the report, an off-duty Scott County deputy, John Gillenwater, was reportedly in the store at the time of the incident with his girlfriend, witnessed the theft and chased Harwell out of the mall into the parking lot.

Harwell reportedly dropped the shopping bag of stolen clothes and Gillenwater stopped him.

According to the report, the 59 pairs of panties and 22 pairs of yoga pants totaled around $1,329.

Harwell was charged with theft over $1,000 and was taken to Kingsport City Jail.
