KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was arrested this week on identity theft, felony theft and odometer fraud charges stemming from a fraudulent listing on Craigslist.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol's Criminal Investigation Division says Patrick Wayne Davis, 46, allegedly altered the odometer of a 2004 Honda Accord by over 120,000 miles.

They say he then advertised the vehicle on Craigslist at a low mileage vehicle, selling it at a much higher price than it was actually worth.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint made to the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, who then asked for help from THP.

THP investigators discovered physical evidence in the Honda indicating Davis illegally acted as the original owner of the Honda by taking the name of a man from Michigan.

Troopers located Davis in Knoxville on Thursday. He was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
