Maryville man killed after losing control of truck

MARYVILLE (WATE) - A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Blount County man on Friday afternoon, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

THP officials say 56-year-old Bobby Holland was driving his truck down Big Elm Road around 4 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve and ran off the roadway.

Troopers say the truck then traveled in the ditchline for more than a 100 feet before hitting a drainage ditch, then flipping on it's side and striking a tree.

Holland was killed in the crash. Officials say he had been drinking at the time.
