KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Fountain City Park is getting some help in keeping their grounds neat.

The Knoxville City Council unanimously approved a $5,000 donation to the park on Tuesday evening.

The money will come from the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

The Lions Club, which manages Fountain City Park and Lake, says they will use the money to help with park up-keep.

The Lions Club had previously mentioned their intentions to make long term repairs to Fountain City Lake. Those fixes would include installing a better filtration system and using environmentally safe chemicals.

Officials say there is a proposal in the city's upcoming budget that could allow for some of the funding necessary for those improvements.
