Johnson City man served with forgery, theft charges while in Washington County Detention Center

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

A Johnson City man already in the Washington County Detention Center on separate charges, was served with new charges Wednesday following an investigation into stolen checks.

According to a Johnson City Police Department news release, David Bell, 53, University Parkway, was charged after he was recognized on security video passing stolen checks at Food City, 2120 S. Roan St., on Jan. 20 and 21, as well as at Kroger, 1805 W. State of Franklin Road, on Jan 24.

Bell was charged with six counts of forgery and seven counts of theft under $500.

He was reportedly being held on $13,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Thursday at 1:45 p.m.
