WARTBURG (WATE) - A manhunt is underway in Morgan County. Authorities are looking for a man who broke into a woman's home and sexually assaulted her.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon just south of Wartburg in the Mossy Grove area.

Authorities do not know his name, but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a sketch of the suspect. He is described as having brown hair and brown eyes, and being in his mid to late-20's.

To help protect the victim, authorities say they can't release too many details about the case, but they do say it's an isolated incident and they feel the man was specifically targeting the victim.

"At this time it seems like she was his only target," said Morgan County Sheriff Glen Freytag.

Freytag says the victim is older than thirty and lives alone. She left her house on Sunday, and when she came back around 3 p.m., the man was already inside. She locked her doors, so they aren't sure how he got in.

"The neighbors didn't have a real good view of the house," Freytag said.

The sheriff says the suspect left soon after the attack, and the victim received medical attention. Before this happened, he says the woman had reported an unknown man was stalking her.

"There's so many different variables in these situations, it's kind of hard to say why. But sometimes they will pick out one certain person," Freytag said.

Tammy Laughter lives in the same area where the attack happened, but she says she has good neighbors and a home security system, so she isn't too worried about her safety.

"It's really surprising that someone would invade a home and hurt somebody because it's just not the Mossy Grove area that I grew up in," Laughter said.

The sheriff says they don't know if the suspect is still in Morgan County or not.

If you have any information about this case, you're asked to call the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at (423) 346-6262. You don't have to leave your name.
