ROCKFORD (WATE) - A Blount County family was forced from their home Friday morning after their house went up in flames.

The Blount County Fire Department says the blaze started before 6:30 a.m. on the 500 block of Self Hollow Road.

Firefighters say when they arrived on scene, the two adults and four children that lived at the home had already gotten out safely.

Crews say the fire started in basement.

The Red Cross is now helping the family.
