KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Emery's 5 and 10, a South Knoxville fixture and a target of Knoxville Mayor Tim Burchett's cash mob program, has announced it is moving to Pigeon Forge.

Owners of the dime store say they are opening their new location on The Island in Pigeon Forge in May or June. The location will be near the new Paula Deen restaurant and the Ferris wheel.

The Chapman Highway store will close after a liquidation sale.

The store was the site of Burchett's first cash mob in 2012, designed to help businesses during the closure of the Henley Bridge.

Emery's opened in 1927 and is a third-generation business. The store's website says it's the oldest family-owned 5 & 10 store in the U.S.
