A ferret attacked a five-month-old boy in Robertson County Sunday morning, leaving the child with serious injuries to the face.The incident took place late morning near Old Coopertown and Battle Creek roads in Coopertown, Tenn., about eight miles southwest of Springfield.Ryan Prather, a Springfield volunteer firefighter, told News 2 the baby
was flown to the Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University for
treatment.He said the infant's injuries were not life-threatening, but he sustained several lacerations to the face causing severe damage.
He was reportedly conscious and responsive when emergency personnel arrived.
Smokey Barn News reports that the ferret was a neighbor's pet.
Officials stated the Department of Children's Services was notified.
