MARYVILLE (WATE) - The pill bust that happened Thursday in Blount Co. has local residents shocked at the location of the arrest.

Terry Arp has lived in a neighborhood off Mayapple Dr. in Maryville for four years now.

"It's just a quiet neighborhood, "Arp said of their community. "Mostly single family homes. A lot of children."

He lives just a few houses away from where the Blount County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Christopher Hartwell was making and selling steroids in his Mayapple Drive home.

Authorities say a two-year investigation revealed that Hartwell used a pill press, a device capable of creating one pill every second.

"The street that it happened on is just adjacent to the daycare and so it's pretty disturbing."

Terry is talking about Blessings Christian Child Care, which sits just feet away from the entrance of the small community. Hartwell also lives in a school zone near William Blount High School, making the area a drug free zone according to state law.

Hartwell is charged with selling and making the drugs, as well as delivery of a controlled substance in a drug free zone, among other charges.

"I'm glad that they can resolve this and hopefully it will return to normalcy."
