KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Sports bars around town were packed Sunday night as fans watched the University of Tennessee men's basketball team beat Mercer University 83 to 63, advancing the Vols to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament.

At Rooster's Bar & Grill, Vols fan Jimmy Holt wasted no time getting pumped to watch the start of the game.

"We are fired up for the Vols here today. They started out the gate so hot, and we love them. This whole place is just filled with Vol fans cheering on Cuonzo and the team. He's got them playing at a high level, and we love it right now," Holt said.

Brent LaPoint works at Rooster's and says big games like this bring in big sales.

"When Tennessee wins, all the businesses in town, other restaurants and bars win as well. So when they're winning, we're all winning," LaPoint said.

Fans also packed the Half Barrel near UT's campus, showing support for their home team.

"It's absolutely the typical Tennessee game atmosphere. We love it," said Vols fan Dana Kircley.

The fans celebrated Tennessee's by singing "Rocky Top."

"They were amazing, this was such a good game. I think it was a toss maybe everybody thought, but we always believe in the Vols and know they're going to come out strong. They showed us tonight that they were ready to be in the tournament, ready for a win," said Vols fan Carley Harris.

"Super excited we're going to Indianapolis," said Vols fans Kristen Cowan.

The Vols head to Indianapolis to take on the University of Michigan at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
