MURFREESBORO (AP) - Officials in central Tennessee are investigating what has caused multiple cave-ins at the Gateway Island Trailhead in Murfreesboro.

The latest drop-out, as city officials refers to it, happened last week near the Gateway Island Bridge.

City Manager Rob Lyons told WSMV-TV in Nashville seismic refraction of the area will help understand what material is underneath the surface and what will be the best solution to fix the problem.

City engineers met with a geo-technical firm last week about doing a comprehensive sub-surface analysis of the area, hoping to get a more detailed picture of the situation.

The report is expected to be complete within 30 to 45 days.
