KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Remains found in the Tennessee River near Island Home Avenue in South Knoxville last week have been positively identified as missing man Derek Funk.

Knoxville police officers were called to the 1400 block of Island Home Avenue Thursday after a resident reported a pickup truck upside down in the water. Officials were able to determine the truck belonged to Funk.

Remains were found in the water near the truck the following morning.

Derek Funk, 19 at the time, left a friend's house the night of May 12, 2010 and never made it home.

The cause of death is still undetermined. The Knoxville Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
