More than a dozen folks were charged and jailed in Darlington County on Wednesday on mostly drug charges, the sheriff announced.
"Darlington County Sheriff's Office, along with the US Marshals Fugitive Task force, and Probation and Parole executed 40 arrest warrants today, landing 14 people behind bars," officials said in a press release.
The operation started early Wednesday morning and lasted for about 4 hours, rounding up 7 men and 7 women aged 19 to 53.
Law enforcement also seized guns, drugs, and body armor in some of the arrests.
"This was a great success. The teamwork between this office and the other agencies involved is the key to that success. Together we took guns off the streets, put bad guys in jail, and that is always a positive," said Sheriff Wayne Byrd, who added that more arrests are expected.
Agencies involved in the operation were Darlington County Sheriff's Office, US Marshals Fugitive Task force, Darlington County Drug Enforcement Unit, and SC Department of Probation, Pardon and Parole.
