WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WATE) - A Whitley County, Ky. man was arrested Wednesday after a two hour standoff with deputies.

The Whitley County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a home at 89 Davenport Lane in Williamsburg around 1:58 p.m. Deputies say they received reports the homeowner, Taliesin Gwyddioniaid was threatening bodily harm to himself and weapons were inside the residence.

Gwyddioniaid had barricaded himself in the residence and refused to open the door. He told the sheriff and deputies to go away, and then turned on the radio to avoid conversation with officers.

Sheriff Colan Harrell and deputies tried to talk Gwyddioniaid into opening the door, but he did not respond.

The sheriff and deputies were on scene for about two hours, trying to ensure the safety of Gwyddioniaid and the highly populated neighborhood where he lives.

Around 3:50 p.m., a deputy heard a gargle come from inside the residence. Deputies then decided to enter the home in an effort to safe Gwyddioniaid's life.

He appeared to be unconscious. A 12 gauge shotgun was found next to him, which he had his hand on and was pointed toward the door.

A loaded 40 caliber automatic pistol and three loaded magazines were nearby.

Gwyddioniaid was taken from the scene to Baptist Health Corbin. Charges may be pending.
