SMITHFIELD, N.C. -

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Selma father with felony child abuse after being accused of beating his 3-month old daughter.

Deputies arrested Saquaun O’Neal Jackson, 24, and charged him with child abuse with severe bodily injury.

The sheriff's office received a call from WakeMed on March 25 about the child. Search warrants indicated that the child had both new and old injuries.

Jackson is in the Johnston County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
