Man ejected from vehicle in Highway 19E crash during police chase

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

A man crashed his car and was ejected from the vehicle, after he reportedly sped away from an attempted traffic stop Friday morning.

According to Bluff City Police Department, officers tried to stop the man after they saw him car run a stop sign around 9 a.m.

The man reportedly did not stop and a police chase ensued onto Highway 19E, where the car crashed in the median.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said the car was traveling 90 mph and said that the man was not wearing a seat belt when he was ejected from the vehicle.

The man was taken to Johnson City Medical Center and the extent of his injuries is not known at this time.

No other information was immediately available.
