KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The sunshine was nice on Sunday, but it was still kind of chilly with many areas not able to climb out of the 50s. This cold dome of high pressure remains in control tonight, so with a clear sky and light wind, temperatures will drop quickly into the low-mid 30s by daybreak. This means that many could see a frost or freeze, so please take precautions to protect tender vegetation once again.

We will see more sunshine for Monday, but with a light southerly flow, temperatures will be warmer with highs climbing into the upper 60s to near 70°. We will see more clouds Tuesday, but we should still get a little warmer with highs in the low-mid 70s and by Wednesday we should see mid-upper 70s, with some areas across the Southern Valley possibly reaching 80°.

As a cold front slowly approaches by the end of the week, the warm temperatures will continue, but the threat for showers and spring storms will return. The opportunity looks just isolated on Thursday and more likely by Friday. In fact, some could be strong to severe, so we will follow this system carefully through the week.

Tonight: Clear and cold with a frost or freeze possible for some. Low: 34°.

Monday: Sunny and warmer. High: 70°.

Tuesday: Variably cloudy, but still mild. High: 75°
