Crews battle fire suspected as arson on House Mountain

CORRYTON (WATE) - Fire crews battled a blaze on House Mountain Tuesday night that is now suspected as arson.

An official with Rural Metro says about one acre was on fire when the first engine arrived around 6:50 p.m. Another three engines responded to the fire after officials say the blaze expanded to about four acres.

Tuesday, forestry officials expanded their estimate to 10 acres.

The fire was being fueled by trees and brush. Officials with Tennessee State Forestry say the fire has not reached the mountain and a bulldozer was being brought in to contain the fire.

Rural Metro says it was protecting a structure from the fire.

Forestry officials say they are investigating the cause of the fire as arson.
