Rockwood police warn of possible phone scam

Rockwood police warn of someone impersonating officer in phone scam

ROCKWOOD (WATE) - Rockwood police issued a warning to its residents on Wednesday of a possible scam.
Police say that someone is calling people and pretending to be Lt. John David with the Rockwood Police Department.
Officers say there is no Lt. Davis at Rockwood PD. The caller is reportedly telling people they have outstanding warrants and need to send $400 immediately to clear things up.
Authorities say they know of at least 15-20 people who have gotten the call.
Officials with the Rockwood Police Department say they would never call and ask for money over the phone.
Anyone who has received the call asking for money is urged to call the Rockwood Police Department at 865-354-3388 during normal business hours, or 865-654-8045 during after hours.
