Chattanooga tattoo artist accused of tattooing 14 year old

CHATTANOOGA (AP) - A Chattanooga man faces charges after police say he tattooed a 14-year-old boy.

WDEF-TV reports the boy's mother filed a complaint against 32-year-old Joey Williams, who police say is not a licensed tattoo artist.

State law requires that minors be at least 16-years of age to get a tattoo. The parent or legal guardian must be present during the procedure. The parent must also show proof or guardianship or custody before a tattoo artist begins.

According to a police affidavit, Williams claimed the boy had told him his mother was sitting outside waiting.

Williams was cited and released on Tuesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 21.

No phone number was listed for him at the address he provided to law enforcement.
