TBI: Crime on Tennessee's college campuses down 11.6%

NASHVILLE (WATE) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says overall, crime is down on the campuses and in the housing of Tennessee colleges and universities.

In the agency's annual "Crime on Campus" study, TBI says crime on campus decreased by 11.6 percent from 2012 to 2013.

While larceny and theft offenses decreased, reported instances of burglary and robbery increased during that period.

Offenses in the category of "Sex Offenses - Forcible" increased by 25 percent in 2013.

"This report will hopefully assist law enforcement, institution administrators, and government officials in planning their effort in the fight against crime," said TBI Director Mark Gwyn.
